About
I am a mom, a wife, a pastor, a dog-owner, a self-taught quilter & woodworker, and someone who loves to listen and learn. I currently serve as a co-pastor at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Racine, WI where I love to preach, listen, lead Bible Study and curate resources for faith and spirituality.
i believe
GOD IS
LOVE
I believe that God is all about love and acceptance, can be found in the midst of almost anything, and appreciates irreverence. I’ve also noticed that God occasionally has a vexing sense of humor, has been known to disappear without a trace, and can be disturbingly silent for long periods of time. Although I don’t have any solutions for these divine quirks, I do believe that conversations with others can help us learn to listen for God in new ways. And, when that doesn’t work, I believe in sitting with people and listening together to the divine silence.
I completed my undergrad at Hobart & William Smith Colleges in Geneva, NY. After I graduated with a degree in Religious Studies, I spent two years working in Christian Education at a Presbyterian Church and at a Presbyterian Retreat Center. I got my M.Div at Columbia Theological Seminary, married Adam, got a Masters of Theology from Princeton Seminary while Adam finished his graduate work, earned a Diploma in the Art of Spiritual Direction, and completed the coursework and exams for a PhD in Christian Spirituality before deciding my heart was really in church ministry.
In 2010, we had twin boys, Micah and Judah, who were born prematurely and died shortly after their birth. Losing the twins was a turning point in our marriage and in our ministries, and it has forever shaped who we are and how we are in the world. In 2011, we had our son, Caleb, and five years later (to the day), we had our daughter, Hannah.
